About the role
- The Streaming team at Affirm manages event-driven architecture, stream processing, data exploration, discovery, and validation.
- As a Software Engineer II, you will identify and execute on new data infrastructure use cases, scale existing systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams during ideation and development.
- Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions regarding risks and trade-offs.
- Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics.
- Participate in on-call efforts and 'keep the lights on' activities.
- Contribute to team community by participating in the interview process.
Requirements
- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks.
- Ability to navigate large code bases, debug others' code, and provide code review feedback.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
