About the role
- The Forward Deployed Engineering team is a specialized, customer-facing group that designs, builds, and productionizes data and AI solutions for strategic customers.
- Engineers in this role embed directly with clients to lead architecture, design, and implementation of end-to-end systems on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design decisions to ensure secure and scalable solutions.
- Design and develop fullstack applications including backend, frontend, and integrations.
- Deliver production-grade systems from data ingestion and transformation to ML/AI model integration.
- Embed with customer teams to engage stakeholders from technical ICs to executives.
- Partner with Sales, Product, and Field Engineering to ensure a seamless customer journey.
- Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
- Influence the Databricks product roadmap based on customer deployments.
Requirements
- Strong background in software engineering with experience across backend, frontend, and systems integration.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Java/Scala, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deploy production applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
- Familiarity with integrating AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini into applications.
- Proven track record of delivering technical solutions in enterprise environments.
- Ability to engage and communicate with stakeholders ranging from engineers to C-level executives.
- Ability and interest to travel up to 50% as needed to client sites.
