About the role
- Serval is seeking its first Talent and People Operations Generalist to build the foundational systems, automations, and programs for hiring and employee management. This role involves owning both Talent and People Operations, utilizing the company's own AI platform to automate manual workflows as the organization scales across the US and into London.
Responsibilities
- Own Ashby ATS end-to-end, including job plans, scorecards, integrations, and data hygiene.
- Build automations and AI agents to streamline sourcing, ATS management, and offer approvals.
- Manage the offer process from compensation approvals to onboarding handoff.
- Develop training, playbooks, and templates for recruiting and interviewer enablement.
- Execute new hire onboarding and offboarding processes, including paperwork and system access.
- Administer performance review cycles and compensation changes.
- Maintain HRIS data accuracy, security, and audit readiness.
- Manage benefits selection, benchmarking, and open enrollment.
- Ensure compliance with US employment laws, including COBRA, ACA, ERISA, and California wage-and-hour rules.
- Coordinate visa and immigration support with outside counsel.
Requirements
- 3-6 years in Talent Operations, Recruiting Operations, People Operations, or a similar systems-heavy role.
- Hands-on experience administering an ATS, with Ashby preferred.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools to build automations, integrations, or agents.
- Hands-on experience running core People programs like benefits, onboarding, offboarding, and performance cycles.
- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Gusto, or Workday.
- Working knowledge of federal and California employment and benefits requirements.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment with confidential information.
- Ability to work from the San Francisco HQ five days a week.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience as an early or first Talent Operations or People hire at a startup.
- Comfort with APIs, scripting, or SQL.
- Experience building with automation tools like Zapier or Workato.
- International employment experience, including global payroll, EOR setups, or visa processes.
- Experience building recruiting training or enablement programs.
