The Azure Platform Architect establishes and maintains enterprise standards, reference architectures, and Infrastructure as Code foundations for Microsoft Azure.
This hands-on senior individual contributor role leads the transition from portal-based provisioning to a codified, template-driven delivery model.
The architect also serves as a technical advisor for Azure workloads and provides operational backup for the Azure Administrator.

Establish and maintain Azure landing zone architecture including subscriptions, management groups, and network topology.
Define and publish enterprise standards for resource naming, tagging, and workload lifecycle.
Select and maintain the enterprise Infrastructure as Code standard and build a reusable module library.
Establish CI/CD patterns for infrastructure delivery including linting, policy-as-code, and drift detection.
Publish reference architectures and templates for common workload archetypes.
Serve as the primary technical advisor for teams designing new Azure workloads.
Partner with Security and Compliance on identity, network, and data control architecture.
Provide operational backup for the Azure Administrator during planned time off and incident response.
Maintain day-to-day working knowledge of Azure administrative tasks including RBAC and cost review.
Participate in the platform on-call rotation for cloud-level incidents.

7+ years of enterprise IT experience.
4+ years in hands-on Azure architecture and administration roles.
Deep production experience with Azure infrastructure services including compute, networking, storage, identity, and governance.
Demonstrated production use of Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, or ARM) at enterprise scale.
Proven track record of establishing standards, reference patterns, and reusable templates.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID architecture, Azure RBAC, Azure Policy, and management group hierarchies.
Ability to serve as an operational Azure administrator without a ramp period.
Strong written communication skills for producing standards documents and reference architectures.
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive adoption without formal authority.
