About the role
- Perplexity is seeking a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to lead and grow the Agents engineering team.
- The role involves leading a team of AI/ML, backend, and full-stack engineers to build agentic experiences within the Comet ecosystem.
- The TLM will advance the frontier of AI agents by applying AI expertise, product intuition, and engineering management skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multiple layers of the AI agents product.
- Develop and leverage AI models, infrastructure, and browser technologies to scale capabilities.
- Guide the team’s system architectures and product roadmaps using technical and product intuition.
- Drive product reliability, code quality, AI evaluation, testing, and maintenance.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and mentorship for the team.
- Develop rigorous interview pipelines and collaborate with recruiting.
- Interface with co-founders to deliver strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Strong foundational familiarity with the full AI product stack.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Domain expertise in context engineering, tool interfaces, post-training/reinforcement learning, or browser technologies.
- Strong product intuition and taste for user experience excellence.
- Hands-on technical experience with frontier models.
- Strong organizational skills for managing parallel technical projects.
- Experience managing engineering teams, including recruiting and retention.
- 8+ years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
