About the role
- As a Lead Materials Associate, you will join our Supply Chain team in Ashville, OH.
- You will help lay the foundation for what will become one of the largest manufacturing sites in the city.
- Success in this role requires an unrelenting desire to adapt, grow, overcome challenges, and constantly improve.
Responsibilities
- Lead small teams in shipping/receiving and kitting operations at the Ashville, OH location, ensuring accuracy, on-time execution, and compliance with customer and government requirements.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, labeling, loading, and securing product — and review the work of other associates to confirm it meets standard.
- Ensure orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product for final distribution.
- Treat inventory accuracy as the top operational priority: maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and proactively reporting and resolving shortages before they impact production.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or direct machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks and loading docks.
- Design, document, and continuously improve warehouse standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping — identifying root causes of errors or inefficiency and implementing fixes.
- Train, onboard, and coach Material Associates on safety, ERP/WMS workflows, and quality standards; serve as a working lead on shift, providing real-time direction and acting as the first point of escalation for process or material issues.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Production, and Quality leadership to prioritize daily workload, flag capacity or staffing constraints, and support audits of inventory accuracy and export-controlled material handling.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance on the floor, including equipment pre-checks, safe material handling practices, and incident reporting.
Requirements
- 4+ years as a warehouse associate or equivalent role, including experience informally or formally leading, training, or directing the work of others.
- 3+ years forklift experience, licensed (preferred).
- Hands-on proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and/or other warehouse management and inventory control tooling, including configuring or troubleshooting routine workflow issues.
- Proven track record of improving inventory accuracy, throughput, or process efficiency in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Comfortable training others and documenting process, with strong Microsoft Office or equivalent office management tooling skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently across a team, balancing daily production needs with longer-term process improvements.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license.
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
Preferred qualifications
