About the role
- Modal is seeking its first dedicated Legal Operations Lead to build and manage the systems, records, and workflows for its legal team.
- This role involves designing operational foundations from scratch to support a high-growth technology company, reporting directly to the General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain contract operations, including designing contract lifecycle management workflows and approval logic.
- Design legal intake processes to support and route requests from internal stakeholders.
- Implement AI tools and configure tooling to increase legal function efficiency.
- Manage corporate administration and record-keeping, including Board and stockholder matters and signature coordination.
- Build and maintain a knowledge management system and database.
- Serve as the point person for corporate compliance, including entity management and filings.
- Coordinate with registered agents for foreign and domestic qualifications.
- Support stock administration and cap table hygiene.
- Manage outside counsel and legal spend.
Requirements
- 5+ years in legal operations, contract operations, or a corporate paralegal role, preferably at a high-growth technology company.
- Demonstrated ability to build and document processes from the ground up.
- Experience configuring workflows and templates within Ironclad or a similar CLM.
- Experience with AI tools and understanding of associated risks.
- Sound judgment regarding task escalation.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to corporate and equity administration.
- Familiarity with Carta or a similar equity administration platform.
