About the role
- SonicWall is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to lead the evolution and performance of their Kubernetes-based production environment.
- The role involves driving reliability, scalability, and observability across mission-critical systems while working hands-on with GCP and infrastructure automation.
- The engineer will partner with Engineering and Support teams to optimize performance and influence architectural decisions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, scale, and enhance the Kubernetes production platform
- Improve the performance, reliability, and availability of production systems
- Ensure comprehensive observability across services, infrastructure, and applications
- Diagnose and tune database and service performance across distributed systems
- Partner with Development teams to assess platform impact of new features and architectural changes
- Identify architecture bottlenecks and contribute to scalable, resilient technical solutions
- Collaborate with Support teams to build and maintain operational runbooks and improve incident response processes
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments
- Strong expertise with Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
- GCP cloud experience
- Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code workflows
- Strong understanding of container lifecycle management and deployments
- Programming experience in Go, Python, or a comparable language
- Experience with database performance optimization and tuning
- Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals and network-level troubleshooting
Preferred qualifications
- Multi-cloud exposure
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
