About the role
- As a Product Operations Engineer supporting Air Defense and Counter Intrusion at Anduril Industries, you will be the architect behind how we observe, maintain, and evolve the deployed Sentry fleet.
- Product Operations is the team that keeps that fleet healthy once it leaves the factory, working across product, engineering, deployment operations, logistics, and sustainment to turn what happens in the field into actionable improvements.
- You will develop a deep product understanding, serving as a function SME for all things Sentry while working with product engineering partners to design, deploy, and improve systems supporting RCCA cycle execution.
Responsibilities
- Build and hold deep technical understanding of the Sentry system, hardware and software, and serve as the product operations SME for Sentry across both business lines.
- Partner with product engineering to design, deploy, and continuously improve the system that drives root cause corrective action (RCCA) cycles on fielded Sentry towers.
- Turn fleet failure data, field feedback, and reliability trends into actionable product improvement signal for engineering, directly informing next-generation hardware and software design.
- Apply and mature failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action (FRACAS) practice for Sentry, establishing how failures are classified, tracked, and closed.
- Develop and deploy uptime reporting that measures and facilitates capability availability for customers, translating raw telemetry into fleet health metrics.
- Proactively build and improve observability tooling behind reporting in partnership with hardware and software engineering.
- Own, democratize, and continuously improve the Sentry knowledge base for field operations functions.
- Expand self-service resources, runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides that field and deployment teams rely on.
- Lead iterative design cycles spanning product operations, engineering, and deployment functions, building agreement on changes and carrying them through to implementation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in product operations, technical support, site reliability, or a comparable technical operations role supporting deployed hardware and software systems, with demonstrated progression in scope and ownership
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or another relevant technical field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience (military, industrial, or field support)
- Technical depth in robotics, mechatronics, or complex electromechanical systems, including the ability to reason across hardware, software, and networking boundaries
- Demonstrated experience driving root cause corrective action (RCCA) to closure on complex systems, including how failures are captured, classified, and verified as resolved
- Experience leading iterative design or improvement cycles across multiple engineering and operations teams, carrying a change from problem statement through implementation
- Proficiency developing monitoring queries, dashboards, and alerting configurations using observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or similar tooling
- Experience validating and verifying software changes on distributed or fielded systems, including rollout, verification, and rollback considerations
- Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash) with a track record of building tooling that improves operational efficiency, plus fluency with development and issue tracking tooling such as Git and Jira
- Demonstrated ability to author clear, thorough technical documentation including runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior military or government agency exposure or experience
- Familiarity with reliability and quality methodologies such as FRACAS, FMEA, or equivalent structured failure analysis practice
- Experience with Linux system administration and command-line troubleshooting of electromechanical or networked systems
- Experience supporting autonomous sensor systems, counter-UAS systems, and/or complex robotics systems
- Experience building or owning a technical knowledge base, documentation system, or self service support resources
- Exposure to Anduril's Lattice OS or similar command-and-control software platforms
- Experience operating in limited risk tolerance production environments with on-call responsibilities
- Willingness to work non-standard hours and weekends when operational needs require
