About the role
- The Finance Automation Lead will own the order-to-cash process and drive finance automation across the organization. This role balances hands-on management of billing, collections, and cash conversion with the development of AI-powered workflows to streamline finance operations. The position reports directly to the Controller and requires an onsite presence in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Own the collections strategy and AR balance, managing DSO and the cash conversion cycle.
- Resolve billing questions, disputes, and past-due balances with Sales, Account Management, and business partners.
- Oversee and coach offshore collections analysts in the Philippines.
- Build AI agents and workflows for collections prioritization, remittance matching, and dispute triage.
- Map manual finance workflows and manage a prioritized backlog of automation opportunities.
- Deploy AI/LLM-powered agents for reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Automate procure-to-pay workflows including invoice intake, approvals, and payment runs.
- Build integrations between NetSuite, billing systems, banks, and BI tools.
- Design human-in-the-loop controls and audit trails to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
- Establish and maintain the credit approval process, including running credit checks.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience building AI/LLM-powered or agentic workflows in a real operation.
- Working knowledge of core finance processes including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and month-end close.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience with workflow automation or integration tools such as Workato, Zapier, n8n, or Make.
- Experience leading or developing people, including remote or offshore teams.
- Confidence influencing cross-functional teams and working directly with customers.
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days a week.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in AR, billing, collections, or broader finance operations
- Familiarity with NetSuite
- Familiarity with Upflow
- Familiarity with Salesforce
- Familiarity with VMS and procurement portals like Fieldglass, Beeline, Coupa, or Ariba
- Familiarity with internal controls, SOX, or supporting external audits
