Responsibilities
- Write long-form, educational financial content that develops complex topics into well-structured, informative articles.
- Produce authoritative financial content, financial news, and financial education articles for regular people.
- Research topics thoroughly and identify credible primary sources.
- Incorporate insights from subject-matter experts.
- Distinguish between facts, expert perspectives, and marketing claims.
- Translate financial concepts such as retirement, investing, insurance, taxes, saving, and financial planning into clear, accessible language.
- Apply AP style standards consistently and accurately.
- Bring a credible author perspective and bio to drive visibility and trust.
- Collaborate with editors, strategists, and other team members to ensure content meets editorial and client standards.
Requirements
- Experience as a personal-finance journalist or editorial writer.
- Demonstrated experience in long-form, educational storytelling.
- Strong reporting and research skills, including sourcing, interviewing, and fact-checking.
- Financial subject-matter experience covering personal finance, wealth, investing, retirement, insurance, banking, or taxes.
- Proven ability to translate financial concepts for a general audience.
- Proficiency in AP style standards.
- A credible author bio and byline history.
- Rigorous, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy and editorial integrity.
- Must be available to work Eastern Time hours.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience writing long-form consumer financial content for established editorial publishers.
