About the role
- The Renewals Specialist will manage the end-to-end renewal process for MongoDB's North America Public Sector customer base.
- This role focuses on driving retention outcomes while navigating the unique procurement, contracting, and compliance requirements of government and public sector clients.
- The specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and Finance to ensure seamless partnership continuations.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage the end-to-end renewal process for assigned Public Sector accounts.
- Engage customers approximately 120 days in advance of renewal to establish timelines and address potential obstacles.
- Prepare renewal quotes, order forms, and contracts in alignment with MongoDB policies and Public Sector requirements.
- Navigate complex procurement cycles and coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet deadlines.
- Partner with account executives to identify opportunities for expansion, consolidation, or agreement changes.
- Maintain accurate renewal forecasts and CRM data regarding customer, commercial, and procurement status.
- Utilize reporting tools to track renewal performance and identify at-risk accounts.
- Provide regular updates to management on renewal status, risks, and key performance metrics.
- Coordinate internal resources to address customer-specific contracting, security, and compliance requirements.
- Help establish repeatable processes and best practices for managing Public Sector renewal complexities.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales, renewals, account management, or revenue role.
- Demonstrated experience owning deals or commercial outcomes through close, including renewals, expansions, or contract execution.
- Experience working with Public Sector, government, education, or other highly regulated customers.
- Track record of strong performance against defined targets, metrics, or goals.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, project management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent renewals with varying levels of complexity.
- Ability to navigate complex processes and identify/resolve obstacles to renewal execution.
- Self-motivated with the ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with Public Sector procurement processes, contracting requirements, government buying cycles, or cooperative purchasing vehicles.
- Prior exposure to database, cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise technology.
